Coaching Staff

 A Jurupa Valley High School alum and proud girl dad, Coach Agustin Mendez brings passion, heart, and mentorship to the Rubidoux football program. He currently serves as the varsity special teams coach, Running Backs and Linebackers coach, and Frosh/Soph Offensive Coordinator. Coach Mendez works full-time at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital in the Hematology/Oncology Clinic and holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice. A lifelong sports enthusiast—especially football, MMA, boxing, and baseball—he’s also an avid golfer. Beyond the field, he’s dedicated to his family: his wife, Melissa, and their daughters Kayla (16), Aria (11), and Joy (11).  

 Coach Nate Aguilar, a Riverside native and Rubidoux High School alum (Class of 2023), played four years for the Falcons as a center, earning First Team All-League honors his senior year. In 2025, he returned to his alma mater for his first season coaching, serving as the Frosh/Soph offensive line assistant coach. He’s excited to share his knowledge and help usher in a new era of Rubidoux Falcon football. 

 A proud Jurupa Valley native and Rubidoux High School alum (Class of 2007), Coach Kelly began his collegiate football career at Chaffey College before earning a scholarship to play Division I ball at the University of Tennessee at Martin. After college, he entered public service and has served on City Council and as Mayor of Jurupa Valley. Beyond his leadership roles, Kelly remains deeply involved in youth athletics—he also coaches with the Jurupa Steelers Pop Warner football program. He’s a devoted father to his son and continues to contribute positively to the community on and off the field. 

 Coach Wiltjer has been coaching offensive line at Rubidoux since 2015, after previous stops at Jurupa Valley High (2013–2015) and Rubidoux (2012). A Jurupa Valley alum and former four-year player, he’s passionate about helping athletes reach their goals through accountability and growth. His favorite football memory is going 10-0 and reaching the CIF semifinals. Outside of football, Coach Wiltjer is a proud dad of two daughters and a fan of Rocky Road ice cream, the Chicago Bears, and Coach Pete Carroll. 

 Coach Henry Andrade has been a dedicated member of the Rubidoux football staff since 2016, coaching wide receivers, defensive backs, and special teams. A former standout wide receiver, he played for the SMU Mustangs from 1980–1985, helping lead the team to a co-national championship in 1983. Before his collegiate career, Coach Andrade excelled at Hiram Johnson High School in Sacramento, earning All-NorCal honors and a spot in the Optimist All-Star Game in 1980. 

 Coach John Bercich has been part of the Rubidoux football staff for the past three seasons, working with the Falcons’ specialists and defensive backs. A standout at Los Altos High School in the San Gabriel Valley, he earned All-League honors as both a kicker and defensive back and was named to the All-San Gabriel Valley Team. He lives in Eastvale with his wife and two children and works for the Jurupa Unified School District in the Maintenance Department. In his free time, Coach Bercich enjoys camping trips with his family to the river and Glamis. 

 Coach Garry Hedlund is Rubidoux’s quarterbacks coach and offensive consultant, bringing 15 years of varsity football coaching experience. He spent five years as a head coach at La Sierra and five years as an offensive coordinator. A dedicated educator, he has taught PE for 12 years—both at the high school and elementary levels—and currently teaches at La Granada Elementary in Riverside. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sports science from the University of La Verne and a master’s degree in education from California Baptist University. Off the field, he enjoys time with his wife, Jessica, and their children—Jackson, Luke, and Lilly. 

 Coach Reggie Kemp serves as Rubidoux’s defensive backs and wide receivers consultant, bringing nearly two decades of coaching and player development experience. A former wide receiver at La Habra High School and Santa Ana College, he has coached youth football since 2006 and spent two seasons coaching varsity DBs at Valley View High School. Coach Kemp is president of the Empire Sun Devils youth football organization and the West Coast Elite All-Stars, operating the largest 7v7 circuit in the Inland Empire. An athletic trainer at Prep Centers Football Academy since 2012, he has helped train countless athletes for success on and off the field. He holds a degree in computer science.
