About Us

A Legacy of Falcons: A Brief History

Founded in 1959, Rubidoux High School was the first secondary school serving the West Riverside area (now city of Jurupa Valley), welcoming students under the proud banner of the Falcons.  Known for its grit, resilience, and never-quit mentality, Rubidoux Football has produced standout athletes, unforgettable Friday nights, and lasting community pride.

Our home stadium, Edward E. Hawkins Stadium, stands as a tribute to a respected community leader and former district superintendent.

For decades, the Falcons have competed with heart in leagues such as the River Valley League, taking on neighboring Riverside schools and strengthening community spirit through every Friday night showdown.

Falcon Legends: On the Field and Beyond Record-Breaking Moments

  • In a storied performance back in 1983, standout tailback Ryan Knight rushed for a Southern Section record of 501 yards in a single game—though the exact total was debated by local press, the official record endures.
  • DeChon Burns, a four-sport letterman at Rubidoux, went on to play cornerback at USC before transitioning into coaching after a sports-ending injury.

Falcons Who Soared to the Pros

Rubidoux High has produced several exceptional football players who played at the professional level:

  • Sammy Knight (Class of 1993): A dominant safety with a 12-season NFL career across multiple teams .
  • Anthony Prior: Had a pro gridiron career in the NFL and CFL.
  • Solomon Wilcots: Safety who played in the NFL and later became an analyst on the NFL Network.
  • Tom Hayes and Billie Hayes also reached the NFL, rounding out Rubidoux's impressive pipeline of pro-level talent .

The legacy continues with each new season, as our student-athletes carry forward the tradition of Falcon Pride.

Legacy Continues

For over six decades, Rubidoux Football has been a source of pride, producing not only talented athletes but also strong leaders. From the gridiron glory of the past to the rising stars of today, the Falcons’ tradition continues to soar.
